Apart from being the Founder and Director of Grey Matters Wellness, Ms. Piya Banerjee is a Consultant Psychologist at Medica Superspeciality Hospital, Kolkata, where she provides outpatient therapy (individual, group, and family) to children, adolescents, adults and geriatrics diagnosed with complex medical and emotional and/or behavioral problems and uses an eclectic form of intervention to best help clients. Her treatment plans for clients includes measurable goals and outcomes apart from assessing and providing crisis intervention for various scenarios, Solution Focused and Rational Emotive & Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Assessment of client needs and referring them for appropriate psychiatric and/or community-based social services.

RURAL HEALTH CARE FOUNDATION

Ms.Piya joined the Times of India Award winning NGO, Rural Health Care Foundation and worked with the recommended beneficiaries (adults) of the Institute, in all the rural centers to conduct psychosocial and intake assessments for new clients, provide referrals and concrete services. She developed and implements comprehensive individual treatment plans and practices a variety of modalities and interventions based on client need, including cognitive-behavioral interventions, mindfulness, grief/bereavement counseling, psycho-education, stress reduction & healthy coping strategies.

ST. JAMES SCHOOL, KOLKATA

She worked as the in-house Psychologist for St. James’ School, Kolkata, a premiere and prestigious ICSE school in the city, with children and adolescents experiencing depression, anxiety, ADHD, Autism, Oppositional Disruptive Disorder, Conduct Disorder, Test Anxiety, Parental Abuse, Parental Conflict, Child Abuse, Identity Crisis, Interpersonal difficulties, Conflicts with teachers and parents, Peer pressure, grief/loss, domestic violence, trauma, learning disabilities, adjustment disorders and other behavior issues and conducted Parenting-Counselling sessions for the parents of the children with emotional difficulties.

PACE UNIVERSAL

Ms. Banerjee has also worked with the human trafficking survivors at PACE UNIVERSAL: Piyali Learning Center, a counter-human trafficking initiative for the female children and adolescents experiencing Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, Anxiety, Depression, Self-harm, Eating disorders, bereavement and grief issues.
